Thursday Paint Group
with Barbie Mathis

11 AM – 2PM 

$35 per day. Attendance each Thursday isn’t required, although, a headcount is taken the day before class by email. You can pay the day you come.

Join a friendly group of people each week who want to paint and create together in Acrylics, Watercolors or Collage. Barbie Mathis, an experienced Artist and Painting Instructor, will lead the group, and give instruction at each person’s individual level whether you are a very beginner or have been painting for years. This class is perfect for retirees or for parents whose kids are in school.

Supply List: Bring your own favorite supplies including:

Acrylic or Watercolor Paints in a variety of colors such as 2 shades of reds, blues, yellow, white, black, burnt sienna and other favorite colors. We can mix many colors such as green, purple or orange.

Paint Palette or Paper Plates - to mix paints

 Brushes – a variety pack of brushes for specifically for Acrylics, or for Watercolors depending on what you like to paint with. Instructor likes Royal Langnickel, Zen or Simply Simmons brushes in a variety of sizes in rounds, flats, liners, and filberts.  If you have questions, only bring a few the first day, and then buy more as needed.  

Canvas or Panels for Acrylic Painters – bring size you like (8 x 10, 9 x 12, 11 x 14, 16 x 20

Paper for Watercolor Painters – Arches 140 lb. Cold Press Watercolor Pad suggested  

Photo References – photos of subjects that you might like to paint such as your own photos of landscapes, seascapes, flowers, animals, or anything else you’d enjoy painting.  *Please avoid photos of someone else’s paintings. Instructor will have a few photo references for demonstrations.

Sketchpad or Cheap Watercolor Pad- for Color Charts, and “using up” leftover paint to make cards
